We designed Pirate Math Equation Quest: Individual Word-Problem Intervention With Total, Difference, and Change Schemas for use with students in the elementary grades who need to learn how to solve additive word problems. We developed this version of the program to offer individual support to Tier-2 and Tier-3 students who require supplemental mathematics remediation in the area of word-problem solving. The focus of this intervention is single-digit and double-digit additive word problems that include three schemas: Total, Difference, and Change.
